Ian is a partner in the Energy & Natural Resources Practice Group specialising in energy projects, with a particular specialism in nuclear energy, nuclear waste management and nuclear decommissioning.

    Ian is a former in-house counsel to the British Nuclear Fuels Plc group and continues to be a long term adviser to the former members of that group such as Magnox and Westinghouse.

    Ian also advises on traditional energy projects in the renewables sector.

    Ian has been listed as a leading adviser in the energy sector by The Legal 500 UK.

    • Advising a lead investor on all aspects of their investment into new nuclear power plants in the UK together with the deployment of technology and site licensing at those sites.
    • Advising a renewables developer on the acquisition and project financing of renewable assets in the UK and Continental Europe.
    • Advising Sellafield in the procurement of major EPC (engineer, procure and construct) contracts.
    • Advising Magnox in the licensing of the Hinkley C new nuclear power plant to EDF.
    • Advising Westinghouse on a contract for the transport of uranium to European enrichment facilities from a Canadian supplier.
    • Advising Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission on the development of their new nuclear new build programme.
    • Advising Vestas on the sale and maintenance of turbines for a number of windfarm developments.
    • Advising Smartest Energy on, and liaising with Ofgem as to their status as a voluntary FiT licensee.
    • Advising Glennmont on its appeal to DECC in respect of their ROC’s entitlement at a straw powered biomass plant.
    • Advising Zilkha Biomass in respect of the Contracts for Difference on their proposed acquisition of the Lynemouth biomass plant.
