With more than two decades of executive experience guiding multinational enterprises on legal, regulatory and government topics in both China and the US, Xuan Yan currently leads our International Public Policy Practice in China.

    Xuan regularly counsels a diverse global client base with his in-depth understanding of government policy. In particular, he assists Chinese companies expanding internationally in key markets including the US, the EU, India and Australia. He regularly advises international clients on doing business in China, including on matters concerning the political environment and on managing the challenges of doing business in China in the Trump era. More broadly, he assists clients in understanding and traversing the often complex and dynamic Chinese political and regulatory environment.

    Xuan is currently an independent director of Alibaba Health and Shenhua Holdings. He is a member of the advisory board of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Business and the Board of Visitors of Duke University School of Law. He also serves as an External Senior Advisor to a French private equity firm.

    Before joining the firm, Xuan held executive positions in China with leading global companies such as Nielsen, AT&T, Lucent, Microsoft, Oracle and Qualcomm. He was elected Vice Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce and served as an independent director for Cambridge Industries Inc.
