About Carmen

Carmen Alba Mantecón advises domestic and international clients on a broad range of civil, commercial and corporate disputes, acting in judicial proceedings and arbitration matters.

Carmen has experience in complex litigation and arbitration arising out of contractual disputes, post-M&A conflicts, corporate governance and shareholder disputes, interim relief proceedings, construction claims, image rights and trademark disputes, as well as competition damages litigation.

Carmen holds a double degree in law and business administration from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, as well as a master’s degree in access to the legal profession and a master’s degree in corporate law from Universidad Pontificia Comillas.

She speaks Spanish and English and has been a member of the Madrid Bar Association since 2020.

Experience

  • Advising an investor in the pharmaceutical sector on the potential nullity of a share sale agreement and related shareholder disputes.

  • Representing a shareholder in corporate litigation challenging resolutions adopted at a general shareholders’ meeting of a real estate company.

  • Representing a leading food company in proceedings concerning the alleged unlawful use of image rights and trademark rights.

  • Representing a European transport company in arbitral proceedings arising from the acquisition of a target company, including claims for breaches of representations and warranties and post-closing mismanagement.

  • Representing the principal shareholder of a major hospitality group in a dispute arising from the alleged breach of a family protocol on corporate governance and business succession.

  • Representing a subcontractor in an international arbitration against an industrial and energy engineering group and its Ivory Coast subsidiary concerning unpaid amounts under four subcontracting agreements.

  • Assisting in complex antitrust damages litigation, including proceedings arising out of the trucks cartel and the milk cartel.

  • Representing both debtors and creditors in bankruptcy proceedings.
