About David

David Chan advises on the whole spectrum of property issues and has considerable knowledge in the acquisition, development, management and disposal of real estate.

He has a particular focus on regeneration, development and energy work and has helped numerous developers, public sector and occupier clients deliver projects involving site assembly, complex phasing, lettings, disposals and joint ventures/profit share arrangements.

He also advises on regulatory issues that affect public bodies in relation to real estate transactions.

Experience

Urban Regeneration

  • Advising English Cities Fund on its £140 million Merchant Gate mixed-use scheme in Wakefield involving residential, offices, leisure/retail and the relocation of a railway station on the East Coast main line.
  • Advising Muse Developments, a national developer, on various mixed-used schemes (including Civic and Cultural Quarter, Doncaster; Forge Island, Rotherham; and Gainsborough town) involving a variety of asset classes, such as offices, multistorey car parks, cinema, food and beverage units, hotels and residential.
  • Advising Reading Borough Council on its £200 million Dee Park regeneration scheme covering 36.5 hectares and involving 800 new homes, a new primary school, a new shopping precinct and a number of public spaces.

Development

  • Advising Doncaster Borough Council in relation to various development schemes, including development, management and disposal of the Keepmoat Stadium (a 15,000-capacity community stadium) and the FARRRS link road (providing an enhanced road link between Robin Hood Airport and the M18).
  • Advising GMI Developments on various out-of-town development schemes with GDVs up to £20 million and involving leisure, retail, offices and hotels throughout Yorkshire.
  • Advising Hull Citycare on the development and management of various health centre schemes in Kingston upon Hull.
  • Advising Park Leisure, a lodge park operator, on various lodge parks throughout England.

Energy

  • Advising Greenpark Energy on its nationwide coal mine methane generation and coal bed methane exploration programmes throughout England and Scotland.
  • Advising Mercia Power Response on its various electricity generation projects throughout England.

Management

  • Advising Jomast, a regional developer and investor, on its extensive property portfolio.
  • Advising the State of Queensland government on its letting portfolio in London.
  • Advising Yorkshire Sculpture Park on all of its property requirements and letting portfolio.
