About David

Dave LesStrang is a principal in our Public Policy Practice who provides strategic advice to clients on a wide range of policy matters, with an emphasis on public policy development, coalition building and the federal appropriations process.

Prior to joining the firm, Dave served as senior staff on the US House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations for 14 years. Since 2011, he has been the majority clerk and staff director of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, the Environment, and Related Agencies – one of 12 Appropriations subcommittees charged with allocating funding for the US government on an annual basis. In this capacity, Dave oversaw the allocation of more than US$35 billion of taxpayer dollars into programs and priorities of the Department of the Interior, Environmental Protection Agency, Forest Service, Smithsonian Institution, National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities, and numerous other agencies and cultural institutions.

As a subcommittee clerk, he managed a diverse public policy portfolio and collaborated on a bipartisan basis with Members of Congress, Senators, leadership staff, the White House and federal agencies to find common ground on complex budget and policy matters.

Prior to his work on the House Appropriations Committee, Dave held a number of senior staff positions for former Congressman Jerry Lewis (R-CA), including deputy chief of staff, legislative director and press secretary, including six years as a spokesperson for GOP leadership.

In addition to his work on Capitol Hill, Dave played a central role in building a highly respected federal government affairs capability to advance the legislative and policy objectives of Boston-based EMC Corporation, a Fortune 500 information technology leader.
