Investment Arbitration
Counsel for Turkmenistan in a US$1.5 billion ICSID(AF) dispute brought by Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) concerning the operation of telecommunication licenses in Turkmenistan.
Counsel for Turkmenistan in Dirk Herzig as Insolvency Administrator over the Assets of Unionmatex Industrieanlagen GmbH v. Turkmenistan, ICSID Case No. ARB/18/35, concerning the construction of grain production facilities and bakeries.
International Commercial Arbitration
Counsel for a mining concern in prosecuting breach of contract claims for US$911 million arising out of the development and construction of an underground mine and mineral processing facility. The arbitration is seated in Stockholm and administered by the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC).
Counsel for the Republic of Kazakhstan in a multibillion UNCITRAL arbitration arising out of a consortium of oil majors’ alleged failure to develop an oil field, recovery of costs in breach of their obligations under a production sharing agreement and multiple breaches of their environmental obligations.
