About Kevin

Kevin Levey is the global head of our Energy & Natural Resources Group and a partner in the Washington DC office.

Kevin’s practice focuses on international business transactions in the infrastructure sector, such as project development, project finance, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and privatizations.

Kevin has been actively involved in the development and financing of solar, wind, battery-storage, biomass, biofuels and other renewable energy power projects in the US and throughout Latin America, including Argentina, Chile, Honduras, Mexico and Panama. He has also advised large multinational companies on the construction, financing, operation, acquisition and sale of major power generation, liquefied natural gas terminal and pipeline projects in Latin America, including Brazil, Chile and Mexico.

Experience

  • Advised global energy companies in the development, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of large renewable (including battery storage, solar and wind), nuclear and thermoelectric power generation, liquefied natural gas terminal and natural gas pipeline projects in the Americas (including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and the US) with an aggregate value in excess of US$25 billion.
  • Counseled global energy companies in connection with acquisitions and divestitures of project assets and companies in the Americas (including Chile, Mexico and the US) with an aggregate value in excess of US$3 billion.
  • Advised global infrastructure companies in connection with compliance issues (such as anticorruption matters involving the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) arising from projects in the Americas (including Brazil and Mexico).
  • Represented global energy companies and foreign governments in connection with several international arbitration and litigation matters in Chile, Ecuador, Mexico and the US with an aggregate value in excess of US$2 billion.
  • Represented global engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firms in connection with the negotiation and drafting of numerous EPC contracts, joint venture arrangements, public-private partnerships and intellectual property joint development and licensing agreements for infrastructure projects in the Americas (including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and the US), Asia and Europe with an aggregate value in excess of US$30 billion.
  • Counseled global EPC firms in connection with the negotiation and drafting of subcontracts and intellectual property joint development and licensing agreements with subcontractors and suppliers for large scale infrastructure projects in the Americas (including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and the US), Asia and Europe with an aggregate value in excess of US$5 billion.
  • Advised a global energy company in connection with its venture capital investments in several early-stage technology companies in the energy sector with an aggregate value in excess of US$50 million.
  • Seconded to an open source technology company to oversee its international expansion.
