Laura Hollowood is an associate in our Litigation Practice Group. Laura acts on behalf of a variety of clients, advising them on a range of corporate and commercial disputes both in and out of court.

Experience

  • Acting for a contractor in a circa £300 million English High Court litigation arising out of the construction of a waste‑to‑energy power plant, involving allegations of fraudulent misrepresentation and wilful breach of contract.

  • Successfully defended a group of English water companies in a High Court group litigation involving approximately 100 property search companies that purchased environmental searches from the water companies over several years. The claimants sought restitution of all fees paid (over £150 million), alleging that the information in the searches should have been provided for free under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

  • Acting for the employer in a US$30 million International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitration relating to the termination of a hydropower dam construction contract, involving multiple claims and counterclaims.

  • Acting for a pharmaceutical client in relation to a threatened claim exceeding CAD$4.5 million arising from its manufacturing practices in respect of certain products.

  • Assisting with the management of a portfolio of debt cases worth hundreds of millions of pounds for one of the largest water retailers in the UK.

  • Advising clients on claims arising through corporate transactions, including defending complex breaches of corporate business warranty claims and challenges to the calculation of deferred consideration through expert determination.

  • Acted for a local authority defending a multimillion-pound breach of contract claim in the High Court.

  • Advised a multinational aerospace company in respect of disputes with its suppliers, including delayed delivery of parts or faulty parts and order cancellation.

  • Advising clients, including one of the world’s largest building material manufacturers and a billion-dollar furniture company, in relation to terminating their contractual agreements.
