About Matthew

Matthew Vautrey is an associate in the Corporate team in our London office. His practice covers all aspects of corporate work across UK and cross-border transactions, in particular private equity and mainstream mergers and acquisitions.

He has experience working across the full spectrum of private equity work, ranging from houses/sponsors and portfolio companies to management teams and individual shareholders. On the M&A side, Matthew acts for both buy- and sell-side teams and takes them through the full transaction lifecycle.

  • Acting for Andwis (a portfolio company of H.I.G. Capital) on its acquisition of Rock Compliance (2024).
  • Representing ECI Partners on its acquisition of Insurance Insider, a leading digital platform providing insights and analysis for the world’s top insurers, distributors and service providers and investors from Delinian (2024).
  • Representing ECI Partners on its investment in Independent Governance Group, the UK’s leading provider of professional pension trusteeship and governance services from LDC (2024).
  • Acting for Perwyn on its acquisition of Atec Group from Kester Capital and management shareholders (2024).
  • Advising Chiltern Capital and the shareholders of SiXworks on its sale to IBM (2024).
  • Acting for Elysian Capital on the acquisition of Activate Group (2024).
  • Advising the shareholders of Vital York, a leading provider of IT solutions to schools and education facilities, on its sale to Turn IT On Group (2024).
  • Representing Foresight Group and management on the exit of Specac International, a leading name in the manufacture of mass spectroscopy accessories to a US-based private equity investor (2024).
  • Representing Foresight Group and management on the exit of Onfab Limited (pharmaceutical containments) to US private equity-backed trade (Thompson Street Capital Partners), Savillex (2023).
  • Advising Alcuin Capital on the buy-out of Mar-Key Group, a leading designer, manufacturer and installer of permanent and temporary structures for event and commercial clients (2023).
  • Acting for Inspirit Capital on its acquisition of Capita PLC’s resourcing businesses – Capita Resourcing, HR Solutions and ThirtyThree (2023).
  • Advising Capital D private equity on the buyout of Electrify Video Partners, an investor in creator-led video channels (2023).
  • Acting as co-counsel with Paul Weiss, advising TPG Rise Climate on a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in A-Gas, the global leader in the supply and lifecycle management of refrigerant gases, from KKR (2023).
  • Acting for Knighthead Capital on the purchase of a 45% equity stake in Championship football club Birmingham City and full ownership of St Andrew’s stadium through its affiliate Shelby Companies Limited (2023).
  • Acting for FPE Capital on the first institutional investment into 15gifts (2022).
