Zachary McCarty is a patent agent in our Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group, based in the San Francisco office. His practice focuses on chemistry, materials science and life sciences intellectual property, including patent prosecution, portfolio development, freedom-to-operate analyses and IP due diligence.
Zachary advises clients on innovations spanning electrochemistry, polymer and small molecule chemistry, advanced materials, carbon conversion technologies and related life sciences applications. He has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting freedom-to-operate and landscape analyses, and helping clients develop and manage strategic patent portfolios.
Before entering private practice, Zachary was a researcher at one of the world’s largest and most influential industrial research organizations and earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin. His technical background in chemistry, electrochemistry and materials science enables him to help clients navigate complex innovations and develop effective intellectual property strategies.
