This event comprised four separate panels:

Compliance and vendor management – This session will offer insights into best practices for managing the risks of a vendor data breach, and overall privacy compliance, from a regulatory, litigation, and in-house perspective as the privacy world gets that much more complex. Join our deep bench of litigation and privacy professionals as they unpack the current vendor-management playing field, among other top privacy compliance trends of 2023. Cybersecurity incident planning and response – Legislatures and regulators have identified cybersecurity as a focus, implementing new laws and regulations to encourage businesses in various sectors to enhance security protections for covered data. Additionally, today’s threat landscape has become increasingly complex, with new threats emerging every week. Our cybersecurity lawyers will be joined by a PacketWatch cybersecurity forensic expert to provide practical insights regarding how to prepare your organization to meet today’s regulatory, legal and threat landscape, and to respond effectively in the event of a cybersecurity incident.
Litigation and enforcement – As regulators are increasingly more focused on cybersecurity issues, this panel will discuss recent privacy and AI litigation trends as well as enforcement priorities across various regulatory agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Department of Justice (DOJ). Former regulators, including Jeffrey Sallet, the prior associate deputy director of the FBI, and our litigation and enforcement experts will share critical insights on how to proactively approach a cyber-regulatory investigation, including best practices for responding to subpoenas and civil investigative demands. The panel will also address litigation challenges and negotiating resolutions with the relevant regulatory and law enforcement agencies.
Policy perspectives – This panel will explore and highlight opportunities and challenges that federal lawmakers face as they pursue policies that address the emerging technology of artificial intelligence (AI). As the industry calls for a national legislative framework, lawmakers are scrambling to fully understand this new technology with hopes of crafting legislation that will provide the necessary guardrails while simultaneously spurring on innovation. We will also address how policymakers at the state level are also contributing to the national AI dialogue and potential impacts on our nation’s economy.
