Denis Barat is a partner in the Global Corporate Practice, based in the Paris office. Denis focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions and corporate finance more generally.

Denis has extensive experience in negotiating acquisitions, disposals and joint-ventures (notably in outbound and cross-border transactions) in a broad range of industries including in the consumer, food and beverages sectors and manufacturing industries. He also regularly advises strategic and financial investors in connection with investments in public companies.

In the area of private equity, Denis advises sponsors in large cap and mid-cap leveraged buy-outs (including through competitive auctions and public-to-private transactions), late stage growth capital investments, build-ups and disposal.

  • Advising the same food and beverages group in the formation of a joint venture with a US-based group for the production and distribution of fruit-based drinks.
  • Advising a worldwide group with activities in the fields of industry, energy, transportation and healthcare, in its disposal of a significant minority stake in a manufacturer of nuclear power plants and research reactors.

  • Advising a private equity sponsor in connection with the IPO of a French electrical fittings company on Euronext, and subsequent sell-down of its minority stake by way of an accelerated book building.
  • Advising a bank syndicate in connection with the sale by way of an accelerated placement of a significant minority stake in a Paris-based satellite operator.
  • Advising a US motor manufacturer in its acquisition of a minority stake in a French automotive business.
  • Advising a sovereign investment fund on the acquisition of a significant minority stake in a dual listed (Paris and NYSE Euronext Amsterdam) worldwide leader in digital security.
