Mark specialises in development work with a particular emphasis on complex and strategic regeneration projects and large-scale development transactions. He acts for clients in both the private and public sector and has a national reputation for his practice advising on major development projects involving public and private sector collaboration.

    Recent highlights include advising Birmingham City Council on the relocation of the City’s wholesale market, the largest in the UK, to a new purpose built facility and acting for the developer in the forward funding and sale of a development portfolio comprising in excess of 1,000 beds of student and private rented accommodation to a major US fund.

    • Acting for Warrington Borough Council on the regeneration project at the Bridge Street Quarter through a partnership development agreement with Muse Developments. The scheme will deliver to the town centre a multi-screen cinema, which has been pre-let to Cineworld, new indoor market facility, high quality restaurants, grade A office space and enhanced public realm.
    • Acting for Watkin Jones on the development of a number of student accommodation schemes comprising in excess of 2,500 bed spaces. Each of the developments have been forward sold and funded by major UK or US funds.
    • Acting for Warrington Borough Council on the regeneration of the Southern Gateway site, a major arterial route into the town centre, which will be delivered through a corporate joint venture between the Council and Langtree Properties.
    • Acting for Daresbury Park Developments, initially a joint venture between Eric Wright Group and De Vere, on the development of Daresbury Park which is widely considered to be the region's leading business park and is the corporate HQ for the likes of BNFL. Mark was responsible for setting up the legal structure for the park as well as dealing with the development of the estate plots and infrastructure and the subsequent lettings and investment sales.
    • Acting for the UK’s leading sports retailer, Sports Direct, on its real estate portfolio including the acquisition of new stores, both in and out of town, disposals, downsizing, extensions and relocations.
    • Acting for Fresh Student Living Limited in respect of a Facilities Management Agreement for the operation and management of 1,000 bed spaces across two student accommodation schemes in Leeds and Sheffield.
    • Acting for Rochdale Borough Council on an innovative land pooling agreement with Registered Provider, Riverside Group, to deliver the regeneration of The Langley Estate Middleton in accordance with an agreed master plan and delivery strategy.
    • Acting for Herefordshire Council on the Rotherwas Enterprise Zone, including advice on the structure of a joint venture company established by the Council to promote the EZ, the drafting and negotiation of a collaboration agreement between the Council and other land owners, an intra-authority agreement in respect of the sharing of rates and structuring the way for property disposals.
