Carlos Blanco Morillo is a partner in the Corporate Practice, specialising in private equity and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), at the Madrid office.

Carlos has extensive experience as legal counsel on cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, with special focus on private equity schemes, leveraged buyouts, management buyouts and buy-ins, secondary funds, special situations and distressed investments. He has provided counselling throughout his career in prominent transactions in various industries, including manufacturing, telco, facility services, technology and finance.

Prior to joining the firm, Carlos was the head partner of the private equity and M&A practice in the Madrid office of a Spanish law firm. Previously, Carlos founded his own boutique law firm and, earlier, he was a lawyer in the corporate, M&A and capital market practices of a renowned Ibero-American law firm.

He holds master’s degrees in law and in business administration (with a major in finance) from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE E-3).

As well, Carlos lectures on corporate law at the University of Navarra and ISDE and is a regular contributor to various financial media outlets.

He speaks English and Spanish and is a member of the Madrid Bar Association.

  • Advised HIG Capital on the acquisition of Grupo Ransa, a leading logistics company.
  • Advised Abertis on the sale of Hispasat, one of its subsidiaries in the telecommunications sector, to Red Eléctrica for a value of €949 million.
  • Advised Intrum, the Swedish-listed multinational group, on the acquisition of 80% of the leading Spanish real estate servicer Solvia from Banco Sabadell for € 241 million.
  • Advised fund manager ABE Capital Partners on its acquisition of a majority stake in Fanox, a manufacturer of protection relays for medium-voltage installations.
  • Advised Excom, a Spanish telecommunications group backed by Formentor Capital and Kartesia, on the investment of Formentor Capital, as well as on the acquisition of more than 10 telecommunications operators.
  • Advised venture capital fund Axon Partners Group on its investments in Libelium, a company specialising in Internet of Things, in Ideadero, in Embention, a leading technology group in autopilot software and drone component manufacturing listed on Euronext Access, as well as on the acquisition of the Cañas y Tapas restaurant chain from leading multinational group Alsea.
  • Advised Medsavana, a company specialising in the application of big data to the medical sector, on the entry of Seaya Ventures in its share capital.
  • Advised Tiko, a European leading property technology firm backed by leading investors such as Rocket Internet and btov Partners, on its recent €60 million Series A funding.
  • Advised Juniper Group, a division of the Canadian-listed group Constellation Software Inc., on the acquisition of Avalon Informática y Servicios Group.
  • Advised CCPA Group, a leading French company in the animal nutrition sector, on the acquisition of Nutega and Novation, leaders in the Spanish market for €20 million.
  • Advised the shareholders of 360º CorA, an independent management company with €1 billion in assets under management, on the sale of 100% of the share capital to leading independent financial firm Abante Asesores (confidential amount).
