Leah Christie is a senior associate in the Real Estate team based in our Perth office. Leah has extensive experience in all aspects of property law with an emphasis in property acquisitions and disposals, leasing (commercial, retail and industrial) and property development.
- Acting for, and assisting, one of Australia’s largest automotive groups on the leasing of office premises.
- Acting for Racing and Wagering Western Australia on the leasing of office premises.
- Acting for a private investor on the leasing of industrial premises across multiple jurisdictions.
- Acted for a local government in relation to the sale of an aged care village and grant of a long-term lease, including review and negotiation of the business sale agreement and lease.
- Acted for, and assisted, private investors in relation to the sale of land for future multistage residential subdivision and development.
- Assisted with the jurisdictional review of property documents for renewable energy projects, including option deeds, easements, access licences and leases.
- Acted for, and assisted, a mining company on the preparation of a land option deed, contract of sale and access licence in connection with a mining project.
- Facilitated the acquisition of a hospital acquired by an ASX-listed developer and funds manager.
- Assisted with the acquisition of a shopping centre by an ASX-listed developer and funds manager.
- Acted for a not-for-profit organisation on the disposal of land, including undertaking the due diligence report and preparation of the contract of sale and leaseback.
- Acted for a not-for-profit organisation on the acquisition of land, including undertaking due diligence enquiries and completing settlement.
- Acted for a not-for-profit organisation on the disposal of a commercial building, including undertaking due diligence enquiries and preparing sale documentation, including terms of agreement, contract of sale and leaseback.
- Acted for, and assisted, numerous local governments in relation to urban renewal projects and the disposal of land, including preparing contracts of sale, development agreements and land exchange agreements.
- Acted for a local government in relation to the sale and development of land, including preparation of the legal due diligence report on the buyer, and preparation and negotiation of the contract of sale and special conditions to secure development obligations and various seller protections.
- Assisted a government body with its leasing portfolio, including provision of leasing advice, and preparation of leases, subleases, licence agreements (for commercial, retail and agricultural premises) and ancillary Landgate documentation.
- Acted for a private investor in relation to preparation and negotiation of an agreement for lease – and the lease – for the development of a retail shop and petrol station.
- Acted for, and assisted, a private investor on the acquisition of multiple parcels of industrial land, including providing title advice and completing settlement.
- Acted for, and assisted, a private investor on the development of a residential strata subdivision, including preparing the sale contract and completing settlement of newly created lots.
- Acted for, and assisted, a local government in the variation of lease of a high-profile sporting ground, including the provision of leasing advice and preparation of lease documents.
- Acted for, and assisted, several local governments in relation to the redevelopment of golf courses, including preparation of development agreements, management agreements and leases.
- Acted for a local government in relation to the redevelopment and long-term lease of a caravan park.
- Acted for, and assisted, a local government in relation to the redevelopment of Forrest Chase, including the review and negotiation of a range of documents, including a development agreement and a suite of leasing and licensing documents.
- Acted for various local governments in relation to the preparation of agreements to secure the collection of developer cost contributions.
- Acted for a local government in relation to the preparation of documents to secure the provision of community benefit items required by conditions of development approval, including preparation of development agreements, easements and provision of associated advice.
- Acted for various local governments in relation to the preparation of agreements for the acquisition of land for road widening and public purposes, including the preparation of sale and purchase agreements and all ancillary title documents.
