Yasuhiro Hagihara has represented Japan-based corporations and individuals in connection with their establishment and operation of businesses in the United States since 1971. His representations include mergers and acquisitions, joint venture formation, licensing, securing private equity capital, real estate acquisitions and dispositions, banking transactions and others. In addition, he has provided policy advice to Japan-based corporations with respect to their global investment and business strategies. His extensive experience in legal representation of Japan-based and US-based corporations has nurtured him to be a skillful negotiator in many complicated international transactions.

Yasuhiro has also successfully defended a number of Japan-based corporations in an antidumping proceeding before the US Department of Commerce. Recognized for his legal expertise in international trade and investments, as well as corporate and commercial matters, Yasuhiro has lectured extensively on US trade laws, especially US antidumping law, as well as laws and procedures for the issuance of corporate commercial papers, products liability issues and other subjects affecting Japan-based corporations operating in the United States. At the invitation of the China National Machinery & Equipment Export & Import Corporation, he has conducted seminars on US trade laws in Beijing and Guangzhou.

Yashuhiro served as an independent director of the board of TDK Corporation (July 2002 to March 2010). He also taught on the subject of international business transactions law as an adjunct professor of law at Keio University Faculty of Law (July 2002 to June 2011). He currently  serves on the board of The Asia Foundation, a nongovernmental organization incorporated in Japan for the purpose of supporting programs in Asia that assist in providing governance and law, women’s empowerment, economic reform and development, and international relations.

Yasuhiro published a series of articles on the substantive and procedural aspects of US antidumping laws in JETRO Sensor magazine, published by the Japan External Trade Organization.
