José Luis Iriarte
Director
José Luis Iriarte is a director in the Financial Services Practice Group, based in the Madrid office.
José Luis specialises in financial and banking law, having participated in national and international financings and refinancings. He has advised banks, financial institutions, investment funds and large corporate groups, both Spanish and non-Spanish, on the structuring and implementation of financial transactions. His experience includes having participated in project financings, infrastructure financings, real estate financings, debt restructurings, corporate financings, acquisition financings, bond issues and export financings, with and without export agency coverage, as well as in syndication processes.
In these areas, he has drafted financial documentation, both under Spanish and English law, as well as security agreements in the context of national and international financings.
José Luis also has experience in corporate law, having participated in mergers and acquisitions.
- Advising a Canadian group in connection with the refinancing of several of its renewable energy projects for approximately €700 million.
- Advising a Spanish financial institution in connection with the execution of two master agreements subject to English and New York law relating to the purchase of credit rights arising from import transactions, some of which exceeded US$1 billion.
- Advising a syndicate of financial institutions in connection with the financing of the acquisition of a Spanish hotel management group for approximately €1 billion.
- Advising a syndicate of financial institutions in connection with the acquisition of a Spanish corporate group dedicated to the design and construction of waste management equipment, as well as its subsequent refinancing by the same syndicate.
- Advising a syndicate of financial institutions on the acquisition of the Spanish part of an energy production group for approximately €1.35 billion, as well as on the subsequent syndication and refinancing process by part of the syndicate.
- Advising a French financial institution on the acquisition by a French group of several Spanish photovoltaic parks for approximately €300 million, as well as on the subsequent syndication of the same.
- Advising a Spanish financial institution in favour of an Austrian group for the purchase and installation of the largest wood panelling machine in Europe in one of its subsidiaries in Spain, with a value of €100 million.
- Advising syndicates of financial institutions on the refinancing of some of the main motorways in Spain.
- Advising a group of financial institutions in connection with the acquisition of an internet service provider and fibre optic infrastructure.
- Advising a syndicate of financial institutions in favour of a series of concessionaires owned by a Spanish construction group for the construction and operation of police stations in Catalonia.
- Advising a syndicate of financial institutions in relation to corporate financing granted in favour of an IBEX35 company dedicated to the construction of infrastructures for an approximate amount of €1.3 billion.
- Advising a syndicate of financial institutions in relation to corporate financing granted in favour of a Spanish company belonging to the defence sector for an amount of approximately €600 million.
- Advising a syndicate of entities in connection with financing in favour of a Spanish hotel group for improvement works on a large part of its hotels for an amount of approximately €200 million.
- Advising on the signing of a framework contract for the issuance of guarantees by several Spanish financial institutions in favour of a Spanish construction group and its projects in Latin America with CESCE guarantee.
