Javier Izquierdo leads the Litigation team in the Madrid office, where he is a partner. Javier advises clients, both national and international, on all kinds of judicial and arbitration proceedings before different institutions (such as the International Chamber of Commerce of Paris (ICC), the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), among others), in civil and commercial procedural matters of all types (including contractual and non-contractual liability, construction, insurance, damages, corporate disputes, renewable energies, financial and banking products, distribution and supply contracts). He also specialises in cross-border proceedings for the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and judgments.
Prior to joining the firm, Javier was the co-head of the litigation and arbitration practice in the Madrid office of a Spanish law firm. He was also a partner in the litigation and arbitration practice of another Spanish law firm.
Javier holds a Degree in Law from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas – ICADE, and he is a lecturer on civil and business law at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Javier contributes regularly to several legal magazines and journals and has been co-author of several books on civil procedural law.
Javier speaks English, French and Spanish, has been a member of the Madrid Bar Association since 2004 and is a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Spain.
