Tomohiko Kamimura is an associate in our Tokyo office. His practice focuses on aircraft finance, banking and finance, cross-border transactions and executive and employee incentive plans. He also has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, employment matters, governance and compliance, corporate crisis management, litigation and general corporate matters.

    Tomohiko has been listed in The International Who’s Who of Aviation Lawyers for four consecutive years since 2013.

    Tomohiko is an active speaker and his speaking engagements include an aircraft financing seminar as well as an incentive plan seminar for Japanese companies, both held in 2016. Tomohiko also spoke at an aircraft engine financing and leasing roundtable in 2017.

    Tomohiko was based in our London office from 2014 to 2015, during which he provided guidance on aircraft finance transactions as well as Japanese companies’ mergers and acquisitions in the European region.

    • Represented Japanese and foreign leasing companies, banks, equity investors and airlines in a large number of aircraft finance transactions, including operating lease, finance lease, JOLCO and loan transactions.
    • Advised Japanese companies in respect of executive and employee incentive plans and the implementation for overseas targets, touching securities law, tax, regulatory and implementation details.
    • Represented Japanese and foreign acquirers and sellers in respect of international and domestic M&A transactions, including structure planning, negotiations, due diligence and communication with local authorities.
    • Advised a foreign bank in respect of its business in Japan.
    • Represented Japanese and foreign companies in respect of international cartel investigations as well as communication with competition authorities.
    • Advised foreign-owned Japanese businesses in respect of the critical as well as day-to-day legal issues arising in Japan.
    • Represented a foreign manufacturer and its Japanese subsidiary in high-profile damage suits and won, which were later covered in multiple law journals.
    • Advised pro bono clients including a refugee relocation program after the East Japan earthquake and a winter night shelter in London.
