Matt Lappin is a corporate lawyer with more than five years’ experience in a broad range of transactional matters. His experience includes private M&A, indirect real estate, investments/joint ventures, private equity and solvent restructuring.

    Having joined from an international law firm, Matt’s practice often involves a cross-border element. He has been involved, in particular, on a number of transactions advising Nordic buyers of UK businesses.

    He also has experience providing governance and structuring advice to registered societies and public-facing bodies, and spent time on secondment in 2020 to the legal team of an innovative technology and engineering business.

    • Acting on the sale by the management team and optionholders of a data information consultancy business to a US-based buyer.
    • Advising on the auction process and subsequent purchase of a student accommodation block through the acquisition of companies in England and Luxembourg.
    • Acting for Nordic buyers on UK M&A projects in a broad range of sectors, including energy, social care, insurance and software.
    • Acting for a PE-backed company in the transport sector on four UK bolt-on acquisitions.
    • Advising on a large restructuring involving the rationalisation of more than 20 property and operating companies within a group owned by a registered society.
    • Acting on a number of matters in the automotive sector, including a cross-border joint venture for the development of a car for entry in an international rally, the internal transfer of the electric vehicle business of a well-known technology company and the business purchase of a car dealership by a large dealer group.
