Will Sparks is a partner in the Antitrust - Competition Practice based in our Brussels office. Will advises on all aspects of competition law, including merger control, cartel defence and antitrust investigations, and compliance. He also advises on public procurement and state aid law.

Will has advised clients in several major European Commission cartel investigations and represented clients in successful cartel litigation before the European Court of Justice. He is also highly experienced in merger control processes both in the EU and globally.

Will has experience in a wide range of sectors, including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, commodities, telecommunications and IT.

He is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Squire Patton Boggs Foundation, which promotes the role of public service and pro bono work in the practice of law and the development of public policy.

  • Advising on the EU and worldwide merger notification of a multibillion dollar merger in the chemicals sector.
  • Advising on the successful appeal to overturn the European Commission’s decision in the Airfreight cartel.
  • Representing clients before the European Commission in relation to the LCD Screens, Optical Disk Drives and Oil and Biofuel cartels.
  • Advising a Ukrainian conglomerate on the merger approval of acquisitions across Europe and the US, including filings in the EU, China, Russia and US.
  • Advising a third party intervening in the European Commission’s investigation into State aid to a global PC manufacturer.
  • Advising a national government on EU law aspects of a multimillion dollar arbitration case.
