Scott Thomas is a senior associate in the Tampa office. Scott focuses his practice in the areas of real estate development and finance, including complex commercial real estate transactions, muti-family development and sales, large multi-state portfolio transactions, sale-leaseback transactions, leasing, construction and financial services.

He represents a diverse group of developers, property owners, joint ventures, investors and lenders in the sale, acquisition and financing of real property, including retail and shopping centers, industrial buildings, office buildings and hospitality projects.

In addition to his traditional commercial real estate practice, Scott also represents private sector developers in public-private partnerships for the development of real estate assets and military base housing and infrastructure, usually in the negotiation of long-term ground leases. He also assists and advises clients with the sale of loan portfolios and the transfer or assignment of loans, as well as handling the real estate components of corporate transactions.

Scott is an alumni of The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and enjoys volunteering at his local animal shelter.

  • Assists and handles the real estate matters for a convenience store retailer client’s 415 site US$1.5 billion sale-leaseback transaction.
  • Handled the real estate matters and ground lease negotiation for a developer in military housing P3 projects at multiple military installations.
  • Acted as lender’s counsel for several national banks in financings of multiple commercial real estate backed transactions, including construction loans for the development of multi-family and retail.
  • Acted as borrower’s counsel for a developer in connection with the financing for construction of several multi-family developments in Florida.
  • Representation of real estate developers in connection with the acquisition, development and sale of several multi-family developments in Florida and Arizona.
  • Handling of the real estate matters for a convenience store retailer in connection with several multi-state and multi-site acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Representing a senior housing developer in the negotiation, acquisition and development of several senior housing communities.
