Louise Willneff is an associate in the International Dispute Resolution Practice based in the Dubai office. She advises clients on a wide range of complex international disputes, with a particular focus on international commercial arbitration and construction disputes.

Louise has represented parties to proceedings under the ICC, ICSID and LCIA rules across several sectors. She has advised states and state-owned entities, and leading corporates based in the Middle East and Europe. Her experience extends to acting for clients in relation to disputes brought before international courts, including the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts.

Louise previously trained and worked at a leading US law firm in London and Dubai, and an arbitration specialist boutique law firm. Additionally, she spent time on secondment to a state-owned national oil company and a state-owned construction and engineering company.

  • Acting for a Kuwaiti contractor in two separate ICC arbitrations against Italian and Korean entities respectively in disputes relating to a refinery project.
  • Representing an Iraqi state-owned entity in an ICC arbitration against a Dutch salvage contractor involving breaches of contract.
  • Advising a Central American state-owned entity in an ICC arbitration in connection with the design and construction of a major maritime project in Central America.
  • Representing a European entity in ICSID proceedings against the Republic of Latvia.
  • Acting for a European oil and gas contractor in an ICC claim over the cancellation of a major offshore pipeline project.
  • Advising a UAE contractor in a DIFC-LCIA arbitration in relation to the construction of a residential project on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai.
  • Acting for various shareholders before the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts in relation to a dispute arising out of a shareholders’ agreement.
