Firm Wins Regulatory and Investigations Team of the Year for Second Year at Middle East Legal Awards

For the second year running, Squire Patton Boggs has been named “Middle East Regulatory and Investigations Team of the Year” at the Middle East Legal Awards.

This year, the award was based on the firm’s successful representation of a Middle Eastern bank faced with material sanctions risk. As the bank’s sanctions compliance and defense counsel, Squire Patton Boggs oversaw a significant transactional lookback exercise as well as the design and implementation of robust remedial measures, and represented the bank when responding to related inquiries from an overseas enforcement agency. In 2024, the firm won the award for securing a victory for one of UAE's biggest banks in a multi-year money laundering and sanctions investigation.

Richard Gibbon, a partner in the firm’s Government Investigations & White Collar Practice Group in Dubai, said: “We are delighted to have retained our title as the Middle East’s leading regulatory and investigations practice, which is a much-appreciated recognition of our multijurisdictional team’s hard work in an incredibly high stakes case on behalf of a much-valued client.”

The core team also comprised Benjamin Wood in Washington, D.C., Katy Fisher in Dubai, and Malak Abbas in London.
