Squire Patton Boggs Boosts Energy & Resources Capability with New Corporate Partner in Australia

Squire Patton Boggs has appointed Michael Brady as a partner in its Corporate Practice Group based in the Perth office. An experienced corporate, commercial and securities lawyer with a focus on the energy, mining and resources sectors, Mr. Brady was formerly the national sector lead for energy and resources at HWL Ebsworth.

Mr. Brady has practised corporate, commercial and securities law for more than 17 years. His primary focus is advising clients within the energy and resources sector on complex, often multijurisdictional transactions and on a wide range of operational matters. He has extensive experience of leading on mergers and acquisitions, and advising on inbound foreign investment and the structuring, financing and on-going development of energy and mining projects. In addition, Mr. Brady regularly provides advice on regulatory compliance (including foreign investment review board matters), tenure, access and approvals together with commercial matters, corporate governance, equity capital markets and other issues.

Mr. Brady also advises on various operational related matters across the energy and resources sector, including transportation and infrastructure access and use; joint venture and joint operating arrangements; sales, marketing and off-take agreements; earn-in agreements; royalty and streaming arrangements; split commodity and mineral rights arrangements; and procurement, supply and other commercial contracts.

Mr. Brady is admitted to practice in Western Australia and has worked at both national and international law firms in Perth, as well as serving as General Counsel & Company Secretary, of an ASX listed mining exploration company in 2014-15.  He is the current National President of the Energy Resources Law Association.  He holds a Master of Laws (Corporate, Energy & Resources), University of Melbourne and is a graduate both in law and in psychology from Murdoch University.
