Squire Patton Boggs is pleased to announce the addition of patent litigation partner Soumitra “Sam” Deka to its global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. He joins the firm from DLA Piper LLP.
“Sam is an experienced trial lawyer with a strong track record of successfully resolving complex, high-stakes patent disputes for multinational pharmaceutical and technology companies,” said David Elkins, leader of the firm’s global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and connections that align with the strategic goals of our practice. Sam represents a new generation of talent to our IP ranks, and we are delighted he has joined the team.”
Mr. Deka has more than 20 years’ experience as a patent litigation trial lawyer, handling a diverse array of technologies including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, semiconductors, optical networking, 3-D capture and display, hard disk drives, telecommunications, and cybersecurity. He also has trial experience in technology litigation and arbitration, including matters involving trade secrets, antitrust, and royalty disputes.
With a degree in physics, Mr. Deka is a registered patent attorney, with experience leading Inter Partes Review proceedings before the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Mr. Deka earned his JD from Temple University School of Law and his BS from Tulane University.
