About Gerald

Gerald R. Sharpe III is a litigation associate in Washington DC. He is a 2025 graduate, summa cum laude and salutatorian of Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law. He will clerk for Judge Elizabeth L. Branch of the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in 2027 and for Judge Lee P. Rudofsky of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas in 2026.

In law school, Gerald served as lead articles editor of Catholic University Law Review, as the president of several student organizations, and as a research assistant to multiple professors and academic centers. He was also a competing member of the Moot Court and National Trial teams, earning numerous accolades for his oral advocacy. During law school, he completed various internships, including at the US Department of Justice and for Judge Richard J. Leon of the US District Court for the District of Columbia.

At graduation, Gerald received his law school’s prestigious Columbus Award, recognizing the student who best embodies the qualities and spirit of the Columbus School of Law, as well as the Alumni Association Award for academic excellence, outstanding co-curricular involvement, and dedication to the law school community.

Originally from Monmouth County, New Jersey, he graduated magna cum laude from Catholic University’s undergraduate program, where he studied philosophy and politics and served as president of the student body.
