John has over 30 years of experience advising on corporate tax, including as a Partner and Head of Corporate Tax at a major UK and international law firm.

He has advised on all aspects of corporate tax, particularly in relation to private equity and corporate transactions, real estate development and investment, collective investment structures, and infrastructure projects. He has worked with clients in a broad range of sectors, including real estate, insurance, energy, private equity and public sector bodies.

He has been recognized as a leading practitioner in both Chambers UK and The Legal 500 UK.

Experience

  • Advising a leading institutional real estate investor on investment and development structures, including in relation to student accommodation, care homes and build-to-rent projects.
  • Advising a major insurer on the acquisition of an annuity business portfolio valued at £875 million.
  • Advising a leading energy provider on the disposal of onshore transmission assets related to offshore wind farms.
  • Advising a Fortune 500 company on a £200 million restructuring of UK pension fund assets.
