About Katelyn

Katelyn Sullivan focuses on employment litigation and counseling, with substantial experience litigating before California and federal courts.

Katelyn represents clients in a range of cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, the Americans with Disabilities Act and wage and hour issues. She handles all aspects of litigation matters, including managing discovery, oversight of expert witnesses, deposing witnesses, drafting summary judgment motions, participating in oral arguments and trial preparation. She also advises clients on drafting employment handbooks and policies, as well as arbitration and separation agreements.

Katelyn has also practiced commercial litigation, handling complex contractual and real estate disputes. She successfully prosecuted and defended various cases in court as well as in arbitration.

Strongly committed to pro bono work, Katelyn has represented two Salvadoran asylum seekers both in Los Angeles immigration court and in their US Citizenship and Immigration Services proceedings. She also worked with the Anti-Defamation League, addressing Texas voting rights issues.

Experience

  • Advised The Boeing Company, including:

    • Securing an arbitration verdict in favor of the client, dismissing claims for race harassment, race discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination and punitive damages in their entirety

    • Using admissions at deposition to obtain summary judgment on the plaintiff’s claims for racial discrimination; retaliation; wrongful termination; negligent supervision, hiring and retention; punitive damages; and emotional distress

    • Obtaining voluntary dismissal by the plaintiff regarding whistleblower and wrongful termination claims upon filing of motion summary judgment.*

  • Obtained a verdict for a national mortgage company at arbitration, dismissing claims of breach of contract and failure to pay wages, after obtaining a summary adjudication order dismissing claims for fraud, negligent misrepresentation and punitive damages.*

  • Obtained summary adjudication for Yamaha Corporation of America on a former employee’s claims for retaliation, failure to engage in interactive process and punitive damages, resulting in favorable resolution of the plaintiff’s claims.*

  • Obtained favorable settlement for a national loan servicing company upon filing motion for summary judgment on claims of disability discrimination, failure to accommodate, failure to engage in the interactive process, retaliation, failure to prevent discrimination and retaliation, wrongful termination and punitive damages.*

  • Obtained “no merit” determination of Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act claims for an international aerospace manufacturing company after investigation by the US Department of Labor.*
