About Lorena

Lorena Lantigua Gonzalez is an associate in our International Dispute Resolution Practice Group based in Santo Domingo. Her practice concentrates on civil and commercial litigation, with a focus on disputes arising in the Dominican Republic.

With over a decade of legal experience, Lorena has represented multinational corporations before courts and state authorities. Her knowledge spans civil, criminal, commercial and real estate litigation, as well as alternative dispute resolution including negotiations, risk mitigation, arbitration, contractual matters, civil liability, title execution and guarantees.

Since 2015, Lorena has practiced at leading Dominican law firms, after beginning her career as a law clerk while in law school. Prior to joining the firm, she represented clients in complex disputes across multiple industries, including financial services, hospitality, commodities and aviation, while also supervising junior lawyers and the law clerk team. She spent two years as a law professor, teaching alternative dispute resolution at a prominent Dominican law school. These roles underscore her strong leadership and mentorship capabilities, which she continues to bring to her practice.

Experience

  • Represented a major commercial airline in multiple damages claims in the Dominican Republic.

  • Provided general legal advice to a major commercial airline in administrative and dispute-related matters in the Dominican Republic. 

  • Represented and advised MLB teams in labor, employment, civil and transactional matters.

  • Represented vehicle distributors in litigation related to the application of Law 173.

  • Represented corporate clients in shareholder disputes, in interim relief proceedings (referimiento) and in principal claims.

  • Represented legal entities in international arbitration administrated by various institutions, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Arbitration Court of the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution of the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce.

  • Served as primary associate in the representation of a significant financial intermediation entity in multiple litigations, negotiations and real estate regularization processes.*

  • Assisted in the representation of an international investment fund in the recovery of financed amounts through guarantee execution.*

  • Assisted in the representation of international hotels and their administrators in various civil, criminal, commercial litigations, arbitrations, negotiations and real estate regularization processes.*

  • Represented and advised a pioneering seller and exporter of cocoa products in the Dominican Republic in criminal, civil, commercial litigations (related to restructuring and commercial liquidation) and labor matters.*

  • ​Represented and advised an economic group in commercial operations related to international franchise contracts, hotel management contracts and commercial and civil litigations derived from these operations.*

  • Represented and advised an economic group managing a shopping center in commercial operations, contract drafting, corporate, civil and commercial litigations, contract execution and termination, collections and guarantee execution.*
