Matthew Freedman is a senior advisor on defense innovation, technology and geopolitical strategy, providing strategic counsel to leaders at the highest levels of government and industry. He currently serves as senior advisor to US Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), where he advises on defense procurement, frontier technology integration and economic activities tied to military plans across one of the world’s most strategically contested theaters.
Matthew has held senior roles across the US national security and defense communities – having worked with 16 US government federal agencies over 40 years – where he advised military officials, cabinet-level officials and senior White House leadership on technology modernization, strategic planning and complex geopolitical challenges. In the private sector, he has counseled CEOs, board chairs and technology leaders on emerging technology adoption, defense industrial base constraints, supply chain vulnerabilities and cross-border security considerations. He also has worked with and for various UN institutions in the past.
