About Rachael

Rachael Markham is the senior practice development lawyer in the Restructuring & Insolvency team, providing national and global support.

Having previously worked for more than 15 years as a senior associate, she brings her knowledge and skills as a fee earner into her role as a practice development lawyer to provide legal, practical and technical support to her team.

Rachael is an active member on several national and regional committees, allowing her to bring changes in law and practice to her team ahead of competitors and providing a forum for discussing complex legal issues. Committees include

  • The Insolvency Lawyers Association (ILA) Technical Committee

  • R3 General Technical Council

  • The Northern Technical Forum

  • CR&I PSL Network

  • LexisPSL R&I Focus Group

Rachael has co-authored an update to the Chapter in Lightman and Moss on administration appointments, which is expected to be published in 2027.

Rachael is also responsible for driving the Restructuring and Insolvency Team’s thought leadership initiatives including:

  • Restructuring Roundup; A newsletter tailored specifically to insolvency practitioner clients focusing on practical and legal issues that concern them.

  • Producing “quick guides” and alerts for our firm’s R&I Thought Leadership Library

  • Writing and editing for our firm’s blog Restructuring GlobalView

  • Managing and delivering the restructuring and insolvency client training programme

In addition, Rachael focuses on reducing risk and enhancing efficiencies in the team through precedent automation, checklists and regular legal updates and training, as well as by managing the precedent and know-how bank. She also deals with complex research queries.
