About Virginia

Virginia Petrussenko-Alves is an associate in our construction team, where she assists clients with drafting, reviewing and negotiating major and minor construction works contracts and goods and services procurement contracts, for construction, infrastructure and resources projects. Virgina has also assisted on dispute resolution processes, including mediation and adjudication, in relation to claims arising from construction projects.

Prior to joining the construction team, Virginia completed graduate rotations in our Real Estate team, where she gained experience advising on commercial property and hotel transactions, and in our Labour & Employment Practice, where Virginia assisted with employment disputes, workplace investigations, employment contracts and the application of federal and state workplace legislation, Modern Awards and other industrial instruments.

Experience

  • Acting for a premier Australian university in preparing a design and construct contract for the development of a major new student accommodation facility.
  • Acting for a global entertainment company in preparing a design and construct contract for the refurbishment and fit-out of a recently acquired live music venue in Perth.
  • Acting for an institutional landlord in preparing and negotiating building services contracts for a commercial office building in Melbourne.
  • Assisting with preparing the design and construct contract, and a range of other minor works and procurement agreements for the redevelopment of an inner city commercial and mixed-use precinct.
  • Acting for a heavy mining equipment supplier in relation to their contracts to design, supply, transport, install and commission heavy equipment for mining and port infrastructure projects in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
  • Preparing, reviewing and negotiating design and construct, major works, minor works and procurement contracts using various Australian Standard form contracts (including AS4902 and AS4000).
  • Preparing for mediation in relation to a dispute arising from construction works at Perth’s Vietnamese cultural centre.
  • Assisting a tier one construction contractor in relation to an adjudication application for delay, disruption and other construction claims arising out a resources project in the Pilbara.
  • Assisting with analysis of the potential claims arising out of a brownfield construction services contract and related services order for the Darwin liquified natural gas (LNG) life extension project.
  • Acting for a digital marketing agency in drafting terms of business for use on Australian and cross-border commercial transactions.
  • Assisting with preparing hotel management agreements and technical services agreements for the provision of facilities maintenance, in connection with the development of a multi-hotel and integrated hospitality giga-project in Saudi Arabia.
  • Assisting with assignments and extensions of leases for retail space at the Perth Hub residential and mixed-use development.
  • Assisting with the leasing of office and retail space at One The Esplanade in Perth, including the flagship retail lease for the 6HEAD restaurant.
  • Preparing lease and lease variation documents for a major Perth CBD commercial, office and retail precinct.
  • Assisting with representing clients in a variety of disputes before the Fair Work Commission, including in relation to allegations of unfair dismissal and general protections claims.
  • Drafting employment contracts and assisting with reviewing complex industrial instruments to identify potential vulnerabilities for various clients, including an educational institution.
  • Assisting with employment due diligence in relation to business acquisitions for both vendors and buyers.
