At our firm, career progression is built on opportunity, support and balance. Brussels office manager Sanae Bouhadoun, who has been with the firm for over a decade, tells us about her journey and the Brussels office culture, as well as providing advice for aspiring professionals.
Can you share your career background and role at the firm?
I joined the firm in 2011 as an accounting assistant. In 2019, our office manager retired after 25 years, and she asked if I wanted to step into her role. With the support of my colleagues in Brussels and the firm’s global network, I transitioned smoothly into my current position as office manager.
How has the firm supported you personally?
The firm has been fantastic in supporting me as a mum. I had my first child while working here, and a second three years later. The flexibility to manage school runs and maternity leave made a huge difference.
And professionally?
Being in Brussels means we’re at the heart of major legal and business events. We regularly host conferences that bring in professionals from across the firm’s global network. Our office has grown to 42 colleagues this year, showing the firm’s commitment to reinvesting in our people. We have around 19 different nationalities within one space, which creates a welcoming, global and friendly culture – the Brussels office is a fantastic place to be.
Any achievements or experiences you’re proud of?
Hosting events is always a highlight of my role. Meeting colleagues and external professionals from around the world is a great way to expand networks and knowledge.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to grow their career at our firm?
Talk to people! The firm has a friendly, open culture – if you’re looking to progress, don’t hesitate to connect with colleagues about your goals.
