Effective Performance Management

12 July 2012
Squire Sanders, Rutland House, 148 Edmund Street, Birmingham, B3 2JR

“A member of my team is underperforming and has been for ages. I suppose I should have mentioned it earlier, really. How can I get rid of him as soon as possible without it coming back to bite me?”

Do these words sound familiar? Managers are often reluctant to manage underperforming employees and may be inclined to bury their heads in the sand, only to decide later that the employee has to go “now”!

Join us at our July Employment Workshop when we will use a DVD clip featuring our fictional manager to explore the key legal and practical issues that arise when dealing with underperforming employees. Amongst other things, we will consider:

  • HR’s role in managing performance – how can you get the best out of your managers?;
  • typical mistakes and how to avoid them;
  • difficult issues, including how to deal with employees who raise a grievance or take sick leave during the performance management process;
  • the most effective practices for improving individual performance; and
  • the Government’s plans to introduce “protected conversations” and special rules for micro-employers.

This Workshop is suitable for line managers who have to deal with performance management, and for legal and HR professionals. It will include an opportunity to ask questions of our Employment Law Specialists and to share experiences with others.

Cost - £40 plus VAT
