Anyone involved in consumer, asset and motor finance will know it is a fast moving and developing area of law. Constant case-law developments coupled with regulatory change (both domestically and from Europe) makes it difficult to keep up to date. To make the task easier, Squire Sanders has teamed up with Three Verulam Buildings and created the Finance Litigation Forum. Aimed at litigation lawyers, litigation managers and recoveries managers, the Forum meets on a bi-monthly basis to discuss the latest developments including:
appeals with consumer credit, consumer finance and an asset finance element;
recent results from payment protection insurance mis-selling trials, applications and appeals;
consumer credit – recent challenges and forthcoming problems;
trends in banking recoveries cases (including non-regulated claims);
trends in finance recoveries cases (including title disputes, satisfactory quality disputes and insurance issues);
fraud trends; and
update on litigation costs.
The next meeting of the Forum (where we will discuss the latest news from the Court of Appeal in Plevin and Conlon), which is scheduled to last an hour with drinks and nibbles to follow, will take place on 21 November 2013 at 5.30pm (with the Forum starting at 6pm) at Wragge & Co LLP, 3 Waterhouse Square, 142 Holborn, London, EC1N 2SW. As places are limited please confirm your attendance by RSVP as soon as possible.
