From 5 April 2015 new parents will enjoy greater flexibility in how they care for a child in the first year after birth or adoption. Eligible employees may take up to 52 weeks’ leave and receive 39 weeks’ pay, both of which can be shared between the parents.
Join us at our March Employment Workshop when we will use a DVD clip to illustrate how the new regime will work in practice.
We will consider:
how and when employees should notify you if they are intending to take shared parental leave;
relevant forms and timetables;
how to respond to requests to take shared parental leave;
potential pitfalls and how to avoid them;
frequently asked questions, including how to deal with requests to take leave in separate blocks and requests to vary patterns of leave; and
how to handle requests to work flexibly from employees returning from shared parental/maternity/adoption leave.
This workshop is suitable for line managers required to deal with requests for shared parental leave as well as for Legal and HR professionals. It will include an opportunity to ask questions of our employment law specialists and to share experiences with others.
