We are pleased, once again, to sponsor and participate in C3's Annual Saudi-American Healthcare Forum which, this year, will take place April 25 – 27 at the Riyadh Ritz Carlton in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The mission of the Forum is to build, foster and strengthen relationships between US and Arab healthcare providers and suppliers.
Stephen Nash, partner and co-chair of our global Healthcare Practice, will moderate two panels and present on a third during the conference.
The first panel, "Demystifying Healthcare Infrastructure Projects,” will take place from 10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. on Monday, April 25. Stephen, as moderator, will be joined by fellow partners Edward Johnson and James Duckworth, and two leaders of EY’s Middle East healthcare group. This panel will explore how PPPs can help to address the mid- and long-term issues facing healthcare in Saudi Arabia. The speakers will discuss the potential for PPPs to deliver world-class healthcare infrastructure and clinical services together with the different approaches to policy and legislative frameworks available to Saudi Arabia's healthcare sector.
Stephen will also participate in "The Acceleration and Accreditation of the Saudi Healthcare Infrastructure Through the Collaboration of Private/Public Partnerships," from 12:20 – 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26. Other panelists include representatives from AECOM, UK; Scottish Futures Trust, Scotland; and the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA). The current Saudi healthcare model, in which the state shoulders most of the cost, may well be unsustainable. This session will look at how PPPs may be able to tackle these problems, and will discuss ways in which other governments have successfully used PPPs to improve care and lower patient costs.
Stephen will then moderate "Building the Framework for Successful Healthcare Infrastructure Projects" from 2:40 – 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday. Panelists for this session include representatives from SAGIA, the Public Investment Fund, KSA, DaVita Healthcare Partners and Intermountain Health. Moving from broad principles of worldwide application, to nation-specific considerations, to particular case studies, the speakers will address topics related to deploying and implementing national healthcare PPP programs.
