US Citizenship and Immigration Services will accept new H-1B filings for FY 2013 beginning April 2, 2012. 65,000 H-1B visas will be available in addition to 20,000 visas for beneficiaries with advanced degrees from US colleges or universities. We anticipate demand will be very strong for H-1B visas so employers should file on April 2 or soon thereafter if they plan to employ foreign workers in the H-1B categories.
Developing from a recent executive order issued by President Obama, visa and foreign visitor processing is improving. Foreign visitors may be able to renew their visas without an additional interview and the order has also led to faster processing in China and Brazil. In addition, Consulates and embassies are now able to issue L-1 visas with validity dates of up to five years.
