One Small Step for Pension Schemes, One Giant Leap for GMPs

Apollo 11 travelled approximately 240,000 miles on its epic journey to set the first man on the moon; it took a mere 76 hours. It feels as though pensions equalisation has journeyed a similar distance over a period of more than 28 years.

In this publication, we consider the latest giant leap forward – the High Court’s conclusions in the Lloyds case regarding whether and how pension schemes should equalise benefits to remove inequality between men and women caused by unequal Guaranteed Minimum Pensions.

This publication will be of interest to trustees and sponsoring employers of pension schemes that provide benefits which include GMP entitlements.
