Squire Patton Boggs is pleased to announce that David Hoppe has joined the firm as Senior Policy Advisor, a role in which Hoppe will serve as a member of the firm’s Washington DC-based Public Policy practice.

Hoppe – the latest in a series of seasoned Capitol Hill veterans to recently join Squire Patton Boggs – adds to a bipartisan policy practice that is co-chaired by former U.S. Senators John Breaux (D-LA) and Trent Lott (R-MS), the former Senate Majority Leader, and also now includes two veteran former U.S. House Members, Jack Kingston (R-GA) and Jim Matheson (D-UT).

“The public policy practice at Squire Patton Boggs is second to none in terms of both the bipartisan experience we bring to the table and our ability to get things done,” said Senator Lott. “We’re part of a truly global firm with an incredible range of resources and expertise in 21 countries. And with Dave joining the public policy practice, we’re now better equipped than ever to make a unique impact for our clients and ensure they achieve their policy goals.”

“Dave brings tremendous credentials and experience to our public policy practice,” added Senator Lott. “Having personally worked with Dave for more than a decade, I’ve experienced first-hand his strategic thinking, level-headedness, and deep knowledge of policy issues across myriad issues. These qualities will be an asset to the firm and its clients, both on a domestic and international level.”

With nearly 30 years of experience on Capitol Hill, Mr. Hoppe has held a number of prominent staff positions within the Republican leadership. He served as the chief of staff for Senator Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) from 2011 through 2013. Prior to joining Senator Kyl’s staff, Mr. Hoppe was president of the bipartisan public affairs firm Quinn Gillespie and Associates. Earlier, Mr. Hoppe served as chief of staff to then-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott from 1996 through 2002; and previously worked with Senator Lott as staff director of the House Republican Research Committee from 1979 through 1980 and staff director for the House Republican Whip from 1981 through 1984. Mr. Hoppe has served as chief of staff to Representative Jack Kemp (R-NY) and administrative aide to US Senator Dan Coats (R-IN). He also has worked at the Heritage Foundation as vice president of government affairs.

Mr. Hoppe also serves as a senior advisor to the Bipartisan Policy Center, a non-profit think tank founded by former Senate Majority Leaders Howard Baker, Tom Daschle, Bob Dole, and George J. Mitchell. He earned a BA from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Arts in international relations from the School of Advanced International Studies at The Johns Hopkins University.

“With one of the preeminent public policy practices in the country, I’m delighted to join Squire Patton Boggs and work alongside many of the most respected leaders in Washington,” said Mr. Hoppe.

Mr. Hoppe’s arrival follows other recent additions to the firm’s Public Policy practice, including former Representatives Matheson and Kingston, as well as Dave Schnittger, who served as Deputy Chief of Staff to US House Speaker John Boehner and joined as Senior Policy Advisor in January.
