Latinvex, a leading Latin America business publication, has named Squire Patton Boggs as one of the top 50 international law firms in Latin America. The firm was also ranked among the region’s top 10 law firms in both Energy and Litigation.

Latinvex’s editorial staff and research team selected the top 50 based on a combination of factors, including value, prominence and scope of work, references among clients and peers, and size of Latin America Practice. Firms received an overall ranking, and were considered in seven subcategories, including arbitration, banking/finance, capital markets, corporate/M&A, energy, litigation and project finance.

Marking its debut on the Top 10 Energy list, Squire Patton Boggs was ranked #7. In a special report, titled “Energy Leaders,” the firm’s energy work in Latin America is profiled. Latinvex highlights the firm’s work on two major projects, including: serving as lead development counsel for Pemex, the Mexican state-owned petroleum company, on all four phases of the Los Ramones Pipeline Project, a multi-billion dollar natural gas pipeline; and acting as special Dominican counsel for Dominican Power Partners (DPP) in connection with the closing of a syndicated credit facility. DPP is an affiliate of the Arlington-based multinational The AES Corporation, which is one of the largest private investors in the electrical sector of the Dominican Republic. In the public policy sector, Latinvex noted Squire Patton Boggs’ support to LNG Group Panama S.A. in relation to its planned construction of a gas-fired plant and related facilities in Panama, and other engagements the firm has in Cuba.

Earlier in the year, the Squire Patton Boggs Energy, Latin America, and Project Finance teams earned several recognitions for its role in the Los Ramones Pipeline Project, which was named: “Project Finance Deal of the Year” by Latin Lawyer; “Latin American Oil & Gas Midstream Deal of the Year” by IJGlobal 2014 Americas Awards; and the “Americas Oil & Gas Deal of the Year by Project Finance International.
