Squire Patton Boggs’ Private Equity Practice has advised long-standing client ECI Partners LLP, the leading growth-focused mid-market private equity firm, on an investment in the international critical communications service provider, CSL. ECI has acquired 100% of the issued share capital of CSL from ICONIQ Capital, including a management rollover into the new structure.

The team advising ECI was led by Corporate partner Charles Leeming, who joined the firm’s London office in February this year, with partners James Fitzgibbon in Manchester and James Collis in London, and involved Joshua Crawley, Ethan Douglas, Rebecca Meyers, and Mona Mojtabavi from the Corporate practice, and Graham Ball and Bryony Sen from the Financial Services practice, and partners Stuart James, Diarmuid Ryan and Patrick Ford from the Intellectual Property & Technology, Competition – Antitrust and Tax Strategy & Benefits practices, as well as other lawyers from the firm’s offices in the UK and Spain.

ECI is a leading private equity investor, with over 40 years of experience. Collaborating with management teams to build successful global businesses, ECI focuses on technological and market disruption as well as long-term structural trends in the TMT, business and financial services, and consumer sectors.

CSL Group is a market leader for secure connectivity solutions in the fire, security and telecare sectors. CSL partners with mobile network operators worldwide, providing complete end-to-end connectivity services for mission-critical M2M/IoT applications. CSL services over one million M2M/IoT devices and monitors four billion events through its platforms each month across the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain and Ireland. The investment by ECI will support CSL to further enhance its offering to its customer base, investing in product innovation and ensuring the high-quality service levels it is known for as it expands.

“We are delighted to advise ECI on this significant investment,” commented Charles Leeming. “Collaborating with our UK and international colleagues in commercial contracts, intellectual property, tax and other disciplines, our private equity team is primed to deliver complex deals across jurisdictions for our clients.
