With a global practice comprised of 186 lawyers operating across five continents, Squire Patton Boggs works in all segments of the industry: commercial, retail, health care, hospitality, industrial, multifamily and other residential housing, mixed-use developments, and major infrastructure projects, advising developers, lenders and investment funds.
The firm’s Real Estate Practice was involved in some of the most complex transactions in 2019, including acting as counsel to EG Americas in its US$2.2 billion acquisition of convenience store chain Cumberland Farms Inc., which included more than 550 owned and leased properties across 11 states. Other notable transactions included acting on behalf of a non-US investment fund as 90% equity investor in modification of construction loan covenants for development of a large NYC multifamily/condominium development for US$1.24 billion, and advising Vivion Capital Partners S.A. in its bid for all outstanding shares in NorthStar Realty Europe, a US-REIT, NYSE listed, with commercial properties in Germany, France and the UK valued at €1.1 billion.
The CPE-MHN 2020 survey collects self-reported data, and ranks using a weighted formula based on a variety of factors, including growth of the real estate practice, the size and nature of its deals, market share, and revenue growth performance, among others.
