Squire Patton Boggs partner Traci Martinez has been named by Columbus CEO to its Future 50 Class of 2021, a diverse group of accomplished people committed to making Columbus a world-class community.
Ms. Martinez serves on the firm’s Global Board and is the deputy office managing partner of the Columbus, Ohio, office. An experienced civil litigation and labor and employment lawyer, Ms. Martinez spends a large portion of her time devoted to trial work. She has successfully tried numerous cases and obtained full defense verdicts in multiple jurisdictions concerning discrimination, contracts, catastrophic claims and disputes involving electrical, communication and gas utilities matters. A trusted adviser to employers across the US, Ms. Martinez regularly counsels boards of directors and C-suites on the complex employment issues they face, including alleged discrimination claims and threatened executive takeovers.
A champion of empowering diverse and female lawyers, Ms. Martinez has focused her energies in taking leadership roles with the Hispanic National Bar Association, the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. In addition, Ms. Martinez is an active member of the Ohio Women’s Bar Association working with other female thought leaders in Ohio. Ms. Martinez is a Board Member and Executive Committee Member and serving one term as Secretary of Experience Columbus, and is a former Board Member of Hands-on Central Ohio, both of which focus on the advancement of women’s issues. In March 2020, Ms. Martinez was selected by the Columbus Partnership and Columbus Foundation as one of ten Ohio leaders to participate in Harvard Business School’s Young American Leaders Program, which brings together leaders from across the United States to Harvard.
