Squire Patton Boggs has hired a new partner, Pablo Rodríguez Abelenda, together with of counsel Ana Bohórquez and associate Diego de Egea, in its Financial Services Practice Group in Madrid. The team joins from Roca Junyent in Madrid, where Mr. Rodríguez led the Banking & Finance practice and was a member of the Board.

Mr. Rodríguez has extensive experience in advising both financial entities, funds and organizations financed in all types of structured finance operations, as well as in regulatory matters and banking law in general. He also specialises in national and international syndicated financing operations, direct lending, securitization, restructuring and secondary debt market (NPLs). Previously, he has practised both in the UK and in Spain, at leading international and Spanish-based firms.
Ana Bohórquez has more than 20 years of professional experience in the banking and finance sector, and is dual-qualified in Spanish and German Law, having advised on numerous transactions in Germany or with German clients. Diego de Egea, who specializes in debt refinancing, is a law graduate of Instituto Católico de Administración y Dirección de Empresas and previously worked at Telefónica before joining Roca Junyent.
The appointment of Mr. Rodríguez and his team continues the ongoing wave of investment in the firm’s global Financial Services Practice, which has seen two recent partner promotions, Douglas Anderson in Columbus and Tomohiko Kamimura in Tokyo, and multiple lateral hires: James Collis and Ian Yeo in London in 2019; Shibeer Ahmed in Dubai, Ahmed Butt in Riyadh, Jessica Kenworthy in Singapore and Derrick Cephas in New York in 2020; and, most recently, Kate Sherrard in Singapore, Jennifer Val in New York, and Jon Lent and team in London in 2021.
