Squire Patton Boggs is pleased to announce it will appoint Marco Crusafio as a partner in the firm’s Milan office and Commodities and Shipping Industry Group. Mr. Crusafio will join from HFW’s Monaco office, where he is a founding partner.

Mr. Crusafio will be the sixth new partner to join the firm’s expanding Commodities and Shipping Industry Group in the past year. He follows Kate Sherrard (shipping/asset finance, Singapore), D. Michael Kaye (international trade, Washington DC), Robert Parson (trade finance, London) and Hazel Brewer (commodities and shipping disputes, Perth), taking the team to over 30 lawyers.

An Italian national, Mr. Crusafio is a dispute resolution lawyer qualified in England and Wales, and specialized in shipping, international trade, commodities, energy and natural resources. He represents clients in disputes before the English courts and in international arbitration proceedings.

“In the space of the last two years, we have created a truly market-leading team with decades of experience in the global commodities and shipping market”, said Chris Swart, who co-leads the firm’s Commodities and Shipping Industry Group with Barry Stimpson. “Marco has previously worked with a number of our lawyers and we will be very pleased to welcome him to Squire Patton Boggs.”

Mr. Stimpson added: “With a strong reputation in this field, Marco will play an important role in the further growth of our practice in Europe. He has well-established relationships, particularly in Monaco, Switzerland, Italy, the Balkans and Greece, which are highly complementary to those of our team and indeed across many parts of the firm.”

Galileo Pozzoli, managing partner of the firm’s Milan office, said: “In common with the spectacular growth of our global Commodities and Shipping team, we have also witnessed increasing demand for our services in this area in Italy. In addition to well-established international dispute resolution and energy practices, we have a growing M&A and Private Equity practice, complemented by our solid tax and litigation teams. As part of our growth in Italy, Marco will be an exciting addition to our team, bringing a depth of expertise in a strategic area that will strengthen our extensive cross-border disputes credentials in Italy.”

The firm’s Commodities and Shipping Industry Group provides a full range of legal services on all aspects of international trade and shipping and across all commodity sectors, including advice and assistance with transactions, corporate matters, trade and asset finance, litigation and arbitration, regulatory matters, environmental law, conventional and renewable energy, derivatives and projects.

The firm’s Milan office opened in January 2020 with an experienced team specializing in corporate and finance matters and cross-border disputes, with a particular focus on the energy, infrastructure, transportation and logistics, pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
