Squire Patton Boggs continues the expansion of its International Dispute Resolution (IDR) Practice with the addition of Marija Šćekić, who joins the firm in London as a Director from WilmerHale. Ms. Šćekić is the latest senior lawyer to move to the IDR team, following recent hires in London, Paris, Singapore, New York, Milan and Brussels, making it one of the fastest growing international arbitration practices globally.

Ms. Šćekić has extensive experience in international arbitration, acting in commercial and investment treaty disputes conducted under major arbitral institutions as well as in ad hoc proceedings. She has particular expertise in energy disputes, including natural gas price review arbitrations—an area in which our IDR team has specialized for more than 20 years. She has also acted as counsel in other international arbitrations involving clients from the automotive, manufacturing and financial services industries, as well as advising on shareholder disputes.

“We are delighted to welcome Marija to the firm,” said Stephen Anway, global co-leader of the IDR Practice. “We have a market-leading energy disputes practice, and Marija’s experience is highly synergistic with the work that we do in this area. She will be a key addition to our London team and to our practice globally.”

Admitted to the Bar in England and Wales and in Serbia, Ms. Šćekić is a member of the Young International Arbitrators Group of the LCIA (YIAG) and the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum. She has been recognized as a Future Leader in Who's Who Legal: Arbitration for the last four years, and is noted for her “ability to think outside of the box to solve complex problems” as well as her “great track record” in international arbitration.

Ms. Šćekić commented, “I am thrilled to be joining the Squire Patton Boggs IDR team. With its dynamic growth and strong experience in energy disputes, the firm is an excellent fit for my practice. I am very excited to be a part of its future success.”

Ms. Šćekić follows the addition of IDR partners Timi Balogun, John Adam, Rodman Bundy, Sabrina Aïnouz, Jérôme Lehucher and Michelle Bock, all of whom have joined our IDR group over the course of the last two years.

Squire Patton Boggs was recently named “International Arbitration Practice of the Year” by Law360 out of 800 applicants. The firm is also recognized as a GAR 30 firm in Global Arbitration Review’s prestigious annual ranking of the top 30 international arbitration practices in the world.
