Following a rigorous, year-long certification process, Squire Patton Boggs has achieved Mansfield Rule 5.0 Certification Plus from Diversity Lab, demonstrating the firm’s longstanding and continued commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive firm. The Mansfield Rule aims to boost and sustain diversity in law firm leadership.
The Mansfield Rule, managed by Diversity Lab, asks law firms to consider at least 30% historically underrepresented lawyers when appointing to leadership roles, promoting to equity partnership, and more. Firms are asked to create and publish job descriptions and appointment/election policies for leadership roles and also must share lessons learned through monthly knowledge sharing forums, to ensure that all firms are working as a community to move the needle on DEI in the legal profession, meeting routine check-in, data-collection, and reporting milestones.
Firms that achieve 30% diverse representation during the Certification Period are awarded “Certification Plus” status.
“Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, however denominated, have long been core values at Squire Patton Boggs as reflected by the fact that the firm has more than 40 women and minorities in leadership positions across our platform, and fully 65% of our promotions earlier this year were women, ethnic minorities or of diverse sexual orientation, said Global DEI Counsel Fred Nance.
