Squire Patton Boggs has announced the appointment of Miles Robinson who has joined the firm as a partner in its Litigation Practice, based in London. Mr. Robinson was previously a senior commercial disputes partner at Mayer Brown, where he was co-head of Mayer Brown’s London Product Liability Practice and co-group leader for the Global Product Liability and Mass Torts Practice.

A disputes specialist with over 25 years of experience, Mr. Robinson advises on complex commercial disputes, including those relating to post M&A, joint venture, supply chain and technology issues. He has particular expertise in defending large scale group actions, having acted on them throughout his career, particularly those relating to product or environmental issues. His product liability work also involves advising clients on product recall, labelling and regulatory matters. He has substantial experience in successfully leading a broad spectrum of cases, including in High Court and appellate litigation as well as arbitrations under all the major arbitral institutions.

Mr. Robinson has a particular focus on the chemicals, manufacturing, food and FMCG sectors, and his work has included defending clients against a wide range of consumer and product liability claims.

Mr. Robinson’s hire is part of Squire Patton Boggs’ continued commitment to growing its Litigation Practice. He follows Construction Litigation partner Ciaran Williams who joined the firm in London in June.

“Miles is a heavyweight litigator with a wealth of experience, strong client relationships, and who is highly respected in the market. Miles will add complementary quality and specialism to our deep bench, and we are delighted that he is joining us at a time of strong client demand for disputes advice,” said Stephen Sampson, UK head of the firm’s Litigation Practice. “Miles is particularly renowned for his work in the chemicals sector, complementary to the expertise of our global Chemicals Industry Group, and he follows a number of hires we’ve also made in this space this year.”

Scott Kane, co-chair of the firm’s global Litigation Practice, added: “Miles joins us at an exciting time. We have seen substantial growth in the UK, with excellent additions to the team that have helped to augment our capabilities and market profile. Miles’ deep experience will help accelerate our growth and enhance our service offering to clients.”

Mr. Robinson commented: “Squire Patton Boggs represents a unique opportunity for me to continue to develop my practice as a member of its highly-regarded global disputes team, and to support the expansion of the UK offering. I have been impressed with the firm’s ambition, quality and its strength in sectors that are important to my practice. I look forward to playing a part in the firm’s ongoing success.”

Mr. Robinson follows the arrival of a 7-strong environmental, products and chemicals regulatory team in Brussels in January and chemicals expert Karyn Schmidt who joined the firm’s Public Policy practice in Washington DC in February.
